My very first Neogen product ever! Though my wishlist on their gauze peeling pads is still not fulfilled.
I got the opportunity to test out Neogen Code9 Black Volume Cream in exchange for my honest review when I was selected as one of Amabie's A-List Reviewers in September. I posted my review of the cream at their website where you can read about it HERE if you do not wish to proceed reading my lengthy blog post.
The ingredients list of this cream amazed me because it contains 119 moisture and active natural ingredients.
What it is?
"Enriched mixture with rigidly selected nature originated
black ingredient and 119 kinds of moisture ingredients.
Special liquid fills moisture between external layers that
take care of moisture of skin.
Remains moisturizing feeling like moisture pack applied
without shine and floating for hours.
Moisture & volume cream that maximizes skin moisture
holding power and volume. 11 kinds of clinic test and
hypoallergenic human body tested.
Oil 0%.
20 Free (Benzyl alcohol, PABA, Imidazolidinyl Urea,
sorbic acid, petrolatum, salicylic acid, mineral oil, paraben,
phenoxy ethanol, tar color, talc, sulfate surfactant, animality,
artificial fragrance, artificial pigment, synthetic ultraviolet
light absorbers, synthetic antimicrobial, tricolsan, synthetic
antioxidant BHA,BHT, benzalkonium chloride, mineral oil free)" - source: TesterKorea
The cream comes with a support(a lid to place the spatula) and the spatula itself. I didn't use these throughout using the cream because I want to use up my old and boring spatulas first. I recently emptied this cream in November.
The tub is 80ml. It looks sleek and sexy though it is made out of plastic.
Ingredients
The cream is composed of 49 black ingredients which are blackcurrant, sesame, grape, blueberry, blackberry extracts etc.
Here goes the looooooong ingredients list. I didn't count exactly but I think there is about 168 (49 + 119) there? Or more than that. I try to list out the highlighted ingredients:
♥ Niacinamide - 4th in list. Whitening and reducing redness.
♥ Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid - moisturizing
♥ Yeast Ferment Extract
♥ Extracts - blueberry, blackberry, black currant, sesame, rice, soybean seed, garlic bulb, black sugar, cocoa, eggplant, grape, mushroom, shitake mushroom, pepper seed, cinnamon bark, chrysanthemum, guava, argan kernel, hibiscus, mallow, malt, lithospermum (healing acne), sugar maple, cucumber (refreshing), panax ginseng, asparagus root, rice bean, orange flower, witch hazel, citrus junos, banana, mango, aloe leaf, coconut, honey, linseed, licorice, apricot seed, centella, propolis and many more other extracts that I am lazy to convert from Scientific to its English name
♥ Adenosine (anti aging), ceramide (retaining moisture),
♥ No alcohol and parabens
Seriously the number of extracts wow me. I was doubtful that I would breakout due to the massive ingredients.
Texture
Instead of a cream, texture is jelly-like. It looks black/dark grey in the tub but when scoop it out it looks almost clear with tiny black bits. The black bits are not coarse at all, it dissolves upon rubbing.
The 'cream' has a pleasant scent that I cannot describe...its the scent of all of the natural extracts combined into one, haha.
Results
The cream is not sticky at all nor leaves any residues. It absorbs into my skin and immediately making it plumped, moisturized and hydrated. The finish is a healthy glowing face. It made my face elastic too.
I was worried that the comprehensive ingredients would break me out but it didn't! I used this as the last moisturizer in my skincare routine. When my skin is feeling dehydrated, this cream as the last moisturizer was not enough so I had to top off with an extra moisturizer. My skin type is sometimes dehydrated oily and sometimes balanced.
Pros
♥ Moisturizing
♥ Hydrating
♥ Not sticky
♥ Plumping
♥ Makes skin elastic
♥ Healthy glowing complexion
♥ Does not leave residues nor making my skin oiler
♥ Contains lots of natural ingredients
♥ Free from harmful subtances
♥ Pleasant scent
Cons
♥ I do not think I have any. I just personally think that this product might not suit for acne solution.
My final thoughts
It is a great product for plumping, healthier skin complexion, moisturization and hydration. I did not see any changes in whitening, improving acne scars, soothing and controlling acne but that is what not what it claims. I would purchase this product if my skin is in needed of vitality.
