Mentholatum Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Essence Review | fail Vitamin C

Annyeong, Everyone~ and Happy Eid to my readers who are celebrating it!

I am going to do a review on another Vitamin C treatment product.

Spoiler: I don't use this anymore despite still having a lot of it left in the tube because it just sucked.

I bought this on eBay from seller ryushindojapan earlier this year. It was my first time ordering something from Japan so I was looking forward to receive my first ever parcel from Japan haha. This product costs USD 13.23/20ml + free shipping at the seller's store. It took a month for it to arrive to Brunei.

I bought this because I wanted to see whether if it will work as great as my favorite vitamin C treatment product which is the OST C20 Serum/Tiam Signature C-Source and also because I read positive reviews that this worked on lightening people's post acne marks.

I don't have much details about this Japanese serum (lazy to research on it) but the product contains Vitamin C and E to lighten dark spots such as post acne marks, making skin brighter and evening out skin tone, you know what a Vitamin C product usually does.

This was also my first time trying out a Japanese essence. I also read that this is a stabilized form of vitamin C where it doesn't have to be kept in the refrigerator after opening and doesn't oxidizes so it is okay to store in a room temperature.

Packaging

It first came in a box but I disposed it because I can't seem to find any useful English description and instruction to include to this review. The product is in a tube and contains 20ml of the serum. Simply press the body of the tube lightly and the serum will be dispensed through the tiny hole at the end. This tube packaging is easy to control the amount to dispense and it can hardly spill, so it is travel friendly.

Ingredients & COSDNA

↦ Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is listed number one in the ingredients list. Not sure about the percentage.
↦ Thymol is included for pigment and fragrance....hmm
↦ Alpinia Katsumadai Seed Extract - antioxidant and Vitamin E to moisturize skin

Consistency

Has some kind of a light oil consistency BUT it absorbs fully into my skin and leaves a matte finish. It is not oily at all and doesn't cause extra oil even though that I have an oily skin. It doesn't clog my pores too. Waiting for at least 3~5 minutes is enough before I can carry on my next skincare step, unlike the C20/C-Source where I had to wait 20~30 minutes for it to completely absorb into my skin.

Colour: it is actually light yellow in colour in real life. It never oxidizes when I first opened it (at end of January or early February), I never kept it inside my fridge.

Scent: sweet candy-like smell? It doesn't smell like oranges at all.

My Thoughts

I bought it mainly because I was fed up with my dark post acne marks. My skin was clear from acne, just had disturbing dark spots. It was annoying and to the point that I wanted to cry.

I was excited to use it, I thought this product will finally diminish my dark posts. I implement the essence after my toner step. I didn't experience any tingling at all. Throughout using, I've been checking the dark spots for a week, two weeks, weeks, a month, two months and until I am tired of it AND the dark spot doesn't seem to lighten/disappear at all, NADA, NONE, OBSO.

↦ Lightening dark spots? Nah
↦ Evening out skin tone? Nah
↦ Not even lightly moisturizing
↦ Basically it does nothing

It does nothing to me and I've been using it like a stupid person who hoped for a miracle to happen. I've used it for more than 2 months and still no results, I think that it is already long enough for a product to show its effects.

After getting tired of the product that seems to be doing nothing for me, I quit using it.
I have the TIAM Signature C-Source now to lighten my acne scars and its been doing well. If you haven't read my review on it, you can check it out here: TIAM Signature C-Source Review

My Final Thoughts

I know my blogger friends Sophie of mapletreeblog.com and Cole of beautyfindsforme.wordpress.com have pretty positive experiences with this essence, you can head over their blogs to find their reviews on this! It unfortunately doesn't work for me. I am guessing that the Vitamin C content isn't sufficient/high to lighten my stubborn dark spots, also the product is kind of expensive, USD 13.23 for only 20ml.

If you think that the Tiam C-Source isn't working or too strong for you, this essence might a gentler option for you and might work for you like it does to other users.

I am not going to repurchase this product obviously, I hate that my money is wasted on a product that does basically nothing :( at least it doesn't break me out.

Simple Skincare Kind To Eyes Eye Make-Up Remover Review | Lookfantastic Mini Review

Annyeong, Everyone~ I ordered this Simple Skincare Kind To Eyes Eye Makeup Remover off Lookfantastic because I was looking for a replacement to my favourite point makeup remover which is the Boomdeahdah Lip & Eye Remover. It was my first time buying something from Lookfantastic and I think their service is quite good. It is a UK-based online store that ships worldwide for FREE. I live for free shipping sites!!!! I remembered that I ordered sometime in November 2016 and my order got shipped out ON THE SAME DAY . I was amazed at their fast shipping service. The free shipping didn't come with a tracking number but thats alright. It arrived a month to Brunei and my small item was packed in a big box. They also included a voucher to use within the UK but unfortunately I had to throw it out since I'm not living in the UK. Overall I'm happy shopping with Lookfantastic and would definitely buy from them again. My item was received in a good condition too, no leakage
