Annyeong, Everyone~
Today's blog post is going to be different and a first.
I am nervous about the things that I am going to say but I need to enlighten about the matter since not everyone knows what I am actually doing, especially non-bloggers.
I am going to break down the questions that I often get from people (especially the ones that know me in real life) into sections and answer them. Always honestly.
How do you get free products to review?
I work hard for it, bitch.
But for real, I do.
⟴If you want to get FREE products to review, FIRST you need to establish a blog or a platform to publish YOUR review. Once you have a blog/platform, it is important to be CONSTANT with your posting. Not by means you have to post everyday, but once a week is good enough.
⟴TIP 1: Companies/Brands (especially new or small ones) tend to look for bloggers to review the products that they are selling. Imagine this scenario: You are a diligent blogger and the company stumbled across your blog and awed by your reviews, the company will reach you out and ask you to review their products and send them to you. Simple as that. If your blog is inactive then you know how the situation is going to be. So, CONSISTENCY IS IMPORTANT if you want to be reached out to review products.
⟴TIP 2: LOOK FOR OPPORTUNITY. Again, some new/small Companies/Brands are on a lookout for product reviewers. When they post on their website/Instagram page that they are looking for a reviewer(s), quickly apply for it. That is when you might get the chance to get free products to review by them. This point relates to the point above which is being consistent. Companies/Brands tend to go through your blog/reviews first to see if you are qualified.
⟴TIP 3: ALWAYS KEEP ON TRYING AND DON'T GIVE UP: Even if you emailed companies or applied to become a product reviewer for them and they rejected you/you didn't get any replies, don't be sad because there are alot of opportunities coming. Maybe it tells you to improve on your reviews first. If you are consistent and have improved, I'm sure your hard work will be paid off. Trust me, I went through this. My reviews were shit when I first started this blog two years ago.
How to Know If The Product(s) a Company Is Sending Suits Your Skin?
"This product by Brand ABC123 didn't work for me, it is their fault."
This is just silly, guys.
⟴It is not a guarantee that all products will work for you, and if a product a company sent you didn't work for you, it is not for the company to blame.
⟴It is important to know that once you apply a product onto your skin, it has become YOUR responsibility even if it causes negative reactions. Especially if the product received is faulty (has molds etc) or expired and YOU still decided to put it on your skin, it is clearly not the company's fault. When the product is faulty or has expired, don't use and report to the company.
⟴TIP 1: As for me, (when I am not dumb and impatient) I conduct patch tests on my skin before deciding to slather the product onto my whole face (gosh, you never knew what will happen). You can look up how to perform patch testing. I will write a separate blog post on this topic someday.
Are you working hard just to get free products?
No.
If I did, I will lose my passion.
⟴Getting free products is not what motivates me to be diligent with my posting and blogging. I just like to share my thoughts of the products that I personally tried myself. My product reviews might help someone on the internet who tries to find the product to get a flawless poreless acne-free skin.
⟴Additionally I ONLY write reviews on products that I PERSONALLY TRIED and not writing reviews of products that I never tried.
I am just passionate with what I do.💖
Difference between REVIEWING and PROMOTING a Product
I want you I want you I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT REVIEWING AND PROMOTING A PRODUCT are two DIFFERENT things!
⟴If I am promoting a product, I won't be working as hard to talk about its consistency, effects, ingredients etc. I would say smart phases to get the potential buyer's heart and soul.
⟴I know I may be indirectly promoting the product in my product reviews in some way but my reviews are diverting more towards a REVIEW and not an ADVERTISEMENT/PROMOTION.
⟴I hope you guys are clear about this. If you guys are captivated by my review and decided to buy the product, then good for the company because I indirectly help them to earn a customer and they should pay me for this.
Sponsored Reviews
Wished I was paid to write reviews, but unfortunately, that is not the case.
⟴Before I get a clear definition of "sponsorship", I thought it was just when a company basically send bloggers free products free to review, and thats not what it actually stands for. I was confused.
⟴The term "sponsorship" in the Blogging/Influences/Youtubers etc World leans towards being provided a product(s) to write/share/post a review and GET PAID.
⟴Another reason why I'm writing this post because I want to make clear that I am/was NEVER sponsored by any companies/brands to write paid reviews. I just get products for free in exchange for my honest reviews. Getting free products is already beneficial for me because I get to test and keep the product for free!
How Much Do You Earn?
I have an unexisting net-worth of 10 billion dollars.
⟴As I mentioned above in the SPONSORED REVIEWS topic, I am never paid to write reviews and in any means.
⟴BUT I do join affiliate programs by StyleKorean* and Wishtrend* where I will gain a small commission if you decided to make purchases directly through the links. The commission I earned will act as a donation to this blog and myself. I want to say THANK YOU in advance for helping me if you used my affiliate links.💘 Help a girl to feed her skincare addiction please.
Haters....?
In everything that you do, people will always have something to say. Accept the Good and be smart enough to ignore the Bad. You do you.💗
Thats all I have to say for now and I hope I clear people's misunderstandings if there are any. Please do not hesitate to reach out and ask me anything. I will do another post like this in the future if I have new questions asked. It is fun to write about this once in awhile! I feel relieved now since the things I wanted to say is out from my chest. Comment your questions below if you have any~
Links marked with * are affiliate links. I will receive a small commission if you successfully make a purchase directly through the links. The commission will act as a donation to this blog and myself. I would appreciate your help alot! xx
