Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion Review | Mini Comparison with Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol

So my period is coming soon and I've been feeling cranky, upset and wanting to start a fight with my man for no apparent reason jeezzz
Can my hormones calm down already?!??!
Don't worry, he can handle the monster that I am.♥

I am going on a Cosrx roll for my next coming blog posts and reviews where I'll be reviewing about Cosrx products that I've been implementing in my skincare routine.


Someone got this for me off BBcosmetic because the Cosrx A-Sol didn't work for me at all despite using up 2 bottles of it. I also had been wanting to try the Natural BHA Emulsion version to see if it will work for me better than the A-Sol version.

Spoiler: what does this product even do for my skin?

➽ Comes with a plastic cap to cover dispenser and from spilling

Ingredients

➽ I have something to say about the ingredients between the Emulsion version and the A-Sol.
➽ As for the Emulsion, the ingredient focuses more on using CENTELLA ASIATICA LEAF WATER and CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT as an anti-inflammatory and soothing.
➽ As for the A-Sol, PROPOLIS EXTRACT is listed first as an anti-inflammatory and soothing. Both Emulsion and A-Sol versions contain Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Alcohol and BHA. The Emulsion also contains "combination of Propolis" as stated in its description but I am not sure which one it is
➽ Emulsion version has more ingredients than the A-Sol.
➽ Overall it is all comes down to WHICH INGREDIENTS SUIT YOUR SKIN BETTER.
➽ As for me I have a better luck with CENTELLA products in terms of soothing than PROPOLIS.
➽ BHA content of the emulsion is unknown while the A-Sol is 1%.
➽ Anyway both of them deliver more or less THE SAME FUNCTIONS such as moisture retention, control oil and refine skin texture.
➽ Centella is also used for anti-aging.


Consistency

➽ Texture between the Emulsion and the A-Sol are totally different.
➽ The Emulsion version features a thick white serum-type while the A-Sol has a clear watery form.
➽ Scent of both the Emulsion and A-Sol are the same; you can either describe it as a STRONG TEA TREE smell or STRONG ALCOHOL smell, it seems to be a combination of both.
➽ I'm not sensitive to the smell.
➽ Now back on about the Emulsion: it is easy to spread and I like to leave on for 10~20 minutes before moving on to the next skincare step since it is an Acid.
➽ While the A-Sol dries completely matte for me, the Emulsion one do leave the same finish BUT it makes my face feels moisturized than the A-Sol.
➽ The smell disappears after application.

My Thoughts

➽ The reason why I choose to get this emulsion is to see whether it will help with soothing my breakouts. Also since that it contains one of my favourite ingredients which is CENTELLA.
➽ I have been using this for quite a long time now, I think since January-February this year.
➽ I use this after the toner step with my hands and wait for 10~20 minutes.
➽ I've been using this whenever I have breakouts...

Pros

➽ It doesn't soothe my breakouts instantly BUT it did soothe them after a few days, which I think is a long process. I expected it to calm my breakouts overnight...does this count as a Pro though?
➽ Secondly, it does help with moisture retention as it doesn't dry out my face at all.
➽ It doesn't clog my pores.

Cons

➽ I just don't know what this product this doing for my skin sadly. The fact that it takes a few days to calm my breakouts turn me off. My pimples can calm itself for a few days even if I don't use any soothing products.
➽ About the exfoliation, I don't really notice any changes on my skin...even if it does some exfoliating, it is probably too mild for me.
➽ I don't notice changes to my skin texture and oil. I have an oily skin.
➽ and minimizing pores? Definitely not...
➽ It also tend to break me out when I accidentally combined another active in my skincare routine.
➽ I also tried this on HORMONAL/PERIOD ACNE and the acne aren't affected at all. No impact on stubborn acne.

My Final Thoughts

➽ Overall, what does this even do?!?!?! I'm just disappointed.
➽ I think this is the 4th Cosrx fail for me.
➽ But I have good news...the next post will be a Cosrx product THAT I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT!
➽ Eventhough this product was gifted to me by a kind friend, I won't purchase this product nor want to use it again after I finished with the current one.
